Tutoring Program

The University of Florida College of Medicine is strongly committed to the success and well-being of every student. Understandably, there will be instances where personal and academic events impact a student’s ability to perform optimally in an already rigorous medical curriculum. To help students in these circumstances, the Office of Student Affairs and Registration can assign available tutors to provide assistance, as follows:

  • Medical School students with an overall score of 79% or below in a course and School of Physician Assistant Studies students with an overall score of 74% or below in a course are eligible for free tutoring. Other personal and/or academic circumstances may warrant consideration for free tutoring.
  • Medical School students with an overall score of 80% and above in a course and School of Physician Assistant Studies students with an overall score of 75% and above in a course are not eligible for free tutoring. However, remaining tutors may be available for assignment, but at the following rate to be paid by the student directly to the tutor:
    • $20/hour for a Medical School or School of Physician Assistant Studies student
    • $25/hour for a Medical School or School of Physician Assistant Studies student with an advanced degree or a School of Physician Assistant Studies graduate

Additionally, students are encouraged to seek help from their course directors, faculty/instructors, teaching assistants, and fellow students. To inquire about tutoring support, please email Mr. Jim Gorske.
