medical student career advising program
The University of Florida College of Medicine (UF COM) Career Advising Program offers four years of comprehensive career development to guide and support our students through the process of finding a specialty and residency program that is right for them. UF COM’s Career Advising Program aligns with the structure of the AAMC Careers in Medicine (CiM).
UF COM’s Faculty Career Coaches (FCC) can provide students with insight into their specialties, including ideal professional characteristics, clinical demands, lifestyle, and information about what constitutes a competitive application to their specialty. They can also be instrumental in assisting with shadowing and research opportunities, networking, and sharing information about specialty resources such as conferences. The Office of Student Affairs works with the FCCs to support career development. Students can begin to research specialty options by visiting AAMC Careers in Medicine (CiM) and by arranging a meeting with one of the FCCs.
