Tutoring Program

The University of Florida College of Medicine is strongly committed to the success and well-being of every student. Understandably, there will be instances where personal and academic events impact a student’s ability to perform optimally in an already rigorous medical curriculum. To help students in these circumstances, the Office of Student Affairs and Registration can assign available tutors at no cost to the student.

Eligibility:

  • Medical education (MD) students with an overall score of 79% or below in a course.
  • School of Physician Assistant Studies (SPAS) students with an overall score of 74% or below in a course.
  • Other personal and/or academic circumstances may warrant consideration for tutoring as determined by the MD / SPAS respective academic promotions committees.

Additionally, students are encouraged to seek help from their course directors, faculty/instructors, teaching assistants, and fellow students. For further information, please review the COM/SPAS Tutoring Policy. To inquire about tutoring support, please email Mr. Jim Gorske .

Tutors

The Office of Student Affairs hires tutors throughout the academic year. The time commitment varies given tutor availability and student need. The compensation is $20/hour for a Medical School or School of Physician Assistant Studies student and $25/hour for a Medical School or School of Physician Assistant Studies student with an advanced degree or a School of Physician Assistant Studies graduate. If you are interested in becoming a tutor, please email Mr. Jim Gorske.
